ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking an Apiculture Specialist for an upcoming volunteer assignment in Armenia. A small group of individual beekeepers in Kotayk Marz expressed an interest to exchange experiences about the Armenian and American beekeeping practices, learn about the treatment of different diseases and hive decline as well as learn new practices.

Due to the current pandemic, this assignemnt will take place remotely. The selected volunteer will be paired with a local volunteer to collaborate and provide training to the host group of beekeepers. Assignment communication may take place via email, video conferencing and/or popular phone apps. ACDI/VOCA field staff will provide interpreting and translation services as needed. This assignment is planned to take place over two weeks. 

***As part of the Farmer-to-Farmer Consortium, this assignment is made possible through USAID funding. In accordance to USAID guidelines, any candidates submitted for consideration under this project must have a valid US passport or Green Card.***


Volunteer Qualifications:

  • University degree in Beekeeping, Agriculture or some other related topic.
  • At least 5-10 years of experience managing bee colonies.
  • Knowledge on identifying and treating common bee diseases.
  • Familiarity with different breeds of bees is preferred but not required.
  • Proficient technology skills including MS Word, Zoom or Microsoft Teams and WhatsApp.
