Overview

ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking a Specialist in Communications for an upcoming Service Learning Corps Assignment in Bangladesh. ACDI/VOCA’s Feed the Future Livestock and Nutrition Activity requests a Service-Learning Corps Volunteer to coordinate and collaborate with the LAN project staff, Learning and Adaptation (CLA) team and Communications Manager, Technical Team Leads, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team, and the home office team to conceptualize and develop methodologies to further develop the communication agenda and operationalize it by producing story ideas for videos, success stories, and other appropriate communication products that effectively communicates LAN results. The selected SLC volunteer will review project documents, contribute to various LAN reports, participate in meetings, engage, and participate in stakeholder forums to identify and operationalize communication needs. This assignment will last for approximately 3 months.

Provisions for the Volunteer: All international and local travel Lodging and Meals, Travel Visa (if applicable), Emergency Medical Insurance, In-country support from field office staff. 

 

Responsibilities

Assignment Tasks

While in-country, the Volunteer will:

  • Review the LAN communication plan to ensure alignment with the organizational mission and programs. This will involve analysis of the relevant project documents considering all the steps through which programs are evaluated, identifying project stakeholders, analyzing the communication needs of each stakeholder.
  • Implement LAN communication strategy that includes media outreach and social media content creation.
  • Work closely with field staff in writing, editing, and review, and coordinate distribution of information to promote and the visibility of project accomplishments for specific county activities.
  • Support county LAN teams in the documentation and repackaging reports for wider consumption.
  • Identify program areas that require stronger and effective communication interventions. This will include designing and implementing specific communication tasks/actions through different channels – LAN newsletter, program website, etc. .
  • Provide creative support for internal and external communication including print publications, electronic communication, and community engagement.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications:
  • Graduate/Ph.D. student or recent graduate in Communications, International Development or another related program.
  • Expertise (work or educational experience) in Communications Strategy and Social Media Campaigns. 
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, WhatsApp, and Zoom.
  • Knowledge of Graphic Design applications (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
  • The ability to identify and develop program Success Stories through co-creation with program partners and other local stakeholders.
  • Previous experience working in Asia is preferred but not required.
