The John Ogonowski and Doug Bereuter Farmer-to-Farmer Program, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), aims to promote sustainable improvements in food security and agricultural processing, production, and marketing by leveraging the expertise of U.S. volunteers.
ACDI/VOCA seeks a specialist in Agrotourism Development for a Volunteer Assignment in Georgia. The selected volunteer will assist in the development of a business plan for three to five locations for clients. The host ultimately plans to expand by adding agrotourism training activities in different regions of Georgia to increase awareness of Georgian culture and traditions with a long-term goal of increasing farm income.
***As part of the Farmer-to-Farmer Consortium, this assignment is made possible through USAID funding. In accordance to USAID guidelines, any candidates submitted for consideration under this project must have a valid US passport or Green Card.***
This is a 2-week assignment, scheduled for September 2024
Provisions for the Volunteer:
While in-country, the Volunteer will:
Assess the potential for agrotourism development in Georgia
Train clients about the mechanics of the creation of agrotourism plans on the following topics: Outdoor recreation, Educational experiences, Entertainment, Hospitality services, On-farm direct sales
Provide guidance on methods to disseminate cultural knowledge
