Overview

ACDI/VOCA seeks a specialist in AI-Enhanced English Language Teaching for a Volunteer Assignment in Kyrgyzstan. The Volunteer will collaborate with the Host, a well-established university serving 2,500 graduate and undergraduate students and 200 teaching staff, to provide guidance and training on how to integrate modern applications and AI tools into foreign language education, fostering a more effective, engaging, and adaptable learning experience.

 

***As part of the Farmer-to-Farmer Consortium, this assignment is made possible through USAID funding. In accordance to USAID guidelines, any candidates submitted for consideration under this project must have a valid US passport or Green Card.***

 

This is a 2-week assignment, scheduled for January 2025. 

 

Provisions for the Volunteer:

  • All international and local travel
  • All lodging
  • A per diem to cover meals and incidentals
  • Travel Visa (if applicable)
  • Emergency Medical Evacuation Insurance
  • In-country support from field office staff
  • Local cell phone to use during assignment (if needed)

Responsibilities

The Volunteer will faciliate the use of tools to motivate students and support personalized learning while preparing students for real-world communication in a globalized world. Leveraging technology enables educators to deliver an enhanced and forward-looking language learning experience, aligning with the demands of modern education.

 

While in-country, the Volunteer will:

  • Train students and instructors to effectively engage in teaching methodology assignments, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to enhance the learning experiences of their students.
  • Provide guidance to students on developing lesson plans and exploring diverse teaching methodologies to meet the needs of various learners.
  • Deliver training on designing lesson plans that integrate modern applications and tools in language teaching, fostering a dynamic and interactive classroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or PhD in Teaching ESOL, Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, or a related field
  • At least 5 years relevant work experience
  • Expertise in innovative pedagogical methods and the integration of technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education

  • Ability to work with individuals and groups on business skills

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently

  • Experience in promoting gender-balanced participation,with a proven ability to encourage and empower women and girls to actively participate in language learning and research activities

  • Excellent cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills

  • Previous international experience a plus

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel and apps like Zoom, WhatsApp, Facebook Etc.
